Castle Pines to bring in new outdoor amenities

The management of all parks and recreation services in Castle Pines will soon fall under the control of the city after a unanimous vote to terminate the Castle Pines Parks Authority and transfer its assets to the city.

The city plans to use the $719,000 in assets it is receiving from the parks authority to install new pickleball courts and an outdoor fitness court designed for bodyweight circuit training, according to a news release. Construction of the new amenities, which are proposed to be built at Elk Ridge Park, is expected to begin in the fall.

“This is an exciting step in the continuing evolution of our community,” Mayor Tera Radloff said in the release. “On behalf of the city council, I would like to thank the Douglas County Commissioners for 20 years of parks and recreation support in our community.”
